Silver Linings Playbook

Well, life hasn’t slowed down since my last post but I’m hoping that will change after this month. I’ve decided to move from working 4 days a week, 10 hours a day to 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. I think ultimately this will make working full-time and going to school full-time a little easier. The only downside is I’ve lost weekends off, though I don’t necessarily look at it that way. I get off at 2pm every day so this means I’ll have the much-needed time to prep and cook dinner every day, while also still having time during the weekend to spend with R.

As much as he loves it when we have the same days off, I find that when I do, I hardly have time to do “me” things because all the time is spent with each other. Now don’t get me wrong, that isn’t a bad thing BUT it will be nice to get some time back to work on my websites play games, and work on building my YouTube account. Plus, I already have plans to take at least one weekend day off a month so we have a full day together and he can always schedule time off on the days I’m not working as well.

Moving into town will definitely help with the amount of time we get to spend together and despite the crushing defeat with the last property we tried to buy, we managed to find another house that we love. The location isn’t ideal, it’s a bit further north than we’d like but it’s on a 1/3 of an acre with a pool and hot tub, and is a single story house. Plus it cuts his commute time significantly AND it means he can work from home more often since he’s not as far from the office.

We are due to close on the 28th and have already started the dejunking and packing process. We are not as far along as I’d hoped to be but if we skip Comic Con, we should be able to get a lot of the packing done which will still leave us time to paint the house and get my office moved by the official move date that I have set.

We have already decided on the comforter set we want to buy and this weekend we are going to look at paint samples to decide what color we’d like to paint our bedroom. We are looking at a pale/sky blue but haven’t quite decided.

Once we are moved in, we will work on touching up the house we are in now and then see about putting it on the market. I’m not sure we are going to be able to get much off it, it’s likely we’ll end up breaking even but we will see.

Overall, I’m really happy with where we are ending up and I am excited to get it set up and make it really feel like home. We never really did much with this house because we knew it was always going to be a temporary residence but we really adore and love the house we are buying in town. I can’t wait to start making it our own!
