Mine Would Be You

I returned from my trip from Texas last Friday but as expected, being away from R for the past 3 weeks meant that the weekend was dedicated to spending time with each other. We talked, we laughed, and had a great time together. It seems like being apart tends to revitalize us and make us really appreciate one another. There was a lot of discussion on the house and the things we’d like to do to make it a little homier.

On top of that, I was greeted with welcome but unexpected news. His friend is no longer staying with us! I have to say I was actually pretty impressed and touched because the last conversation we had about his friend was that I hated having to be put in the middle of the situation and made to be the bad guy, because he tends to be soft-hearted and couldn’t be honest. When I arrived him and he wasn’t here, I expected he was going to be returning but R told me that wasn’t the case. I can’t express how much stress that took off my shoulders and of course I thanked him and showed my appreciation because it really did mean the world to me. For once, I felt secure that when push comes to shove, our relationship is more important.

Today I woke up, completed my orientation for school, and then spent the rest of the day cleaning our bedroom and bathroom. R has the tendency to shut down when I’m gone and it was completely evident, lol. Despite that, other than a vacuüm and R’s need to figure out where to put the crap on his side of the bed1, the room is back in order. Tomorrow, will entail cleaning up the front porch and a bit of organization and clean up for the living and hopefully the kitchen if there’s time.

Wednesday, we’ll be leaving to go camping for Thanksgiving! I’m pretty excited and it’ll be interesting to see if this is something we want to do yearly or stick to our original Thanksgiving tradition of just having dinner at home with family and friends. I figured this year we could try something new and see how it goes. Upon our return, I’ll probably put up the tree and start shopping for gifts for Solstice since once again, I waited until last-minute. I still have no idea what to get R since he’s not interested in the XBOX One and anything he does want is out of my price range, lol. Oh well, I guess I’ll figure that out come next week.

What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

  1. AK-15 rifle and RC car parts

Home Away from Home

Well I’ve arrived in Texas safe and sound after almost missing my flight. I literally got to the gate just as they started boarding. That’s a first for me. I’m usually at the gate at least an hour before we take off but on the way out of town I remembered I’d forgotten my thyroid medication so we had to turn back around. Talk about close calls, lol.

After that I got to hang out at the airport for 4 hours because Jenn’s hubby, Jeremiah had work and wasn’t able to get off when he said he would. Jenn felt really bad and thought she was a bad friend but I told her she was being silly. I was fine and it allowed me to get through a book, I’ve meant to finish, so I was perfectly content to hang out. Plus, even if I didn’t have a book, I had my laptop and the airport has free WiFi so it wasn’t a big deal. :)

Texas is like my home away from home. It’s so peaceful out here and plus I really needed to de-stress and this is helping. The kids are adorable as always and it’s crazy to me how big they both are. When I last saw Blake he was still crawling and now he’s walking! And Matthew, big attitude change! It’s so weird. He’s gone from the boy who was all “Look at me, Angie!” to “Meh, Angie’s here, big freaking deal.” Lol. I want both of them to stop growing. I don’t like it. :(

Speaking of kids, my results for my blood work came back and it seems the thyroid meds are helping. All of my levels came back normal so I’ll just keep taking the pills. We have a consultation scheduled at the fertility clinic on Dec 6th and we’ll go from there. I am happy that the pills are working. I don’t know what I would have done if the results came back with levels that were still high. I will say that I had a feeling something was off because of my recent weight gain. I usually stay around 98-101lbs and those 3 months I was hovering around 103-104lbs which isn’t the norm, unless I’m actively trying to gain weight, lol. I guess it’s a lesson learned that I should follow my instincts. As for R, he’s doing great with the weight loss. He’s lost 10lbs already and he is continuing to walk at least 12,000 steps a day, usually more. I am so proud of him.

I’ll be in Texas for the next three weeks hanging with my Jennfur. We’re going to see P!NK in concert and we’re going to try to see Thor as well. I spoiled myself this year and this is my third time visiting so I’m going to be sad when I’m not able to come out as often but Ce la vie. I’m just grateful to be able to see her at all. I missed my bestie and I hate that we live so far from each other. Distance sucks.

Heading Back to Reality

For the past 8 days, R and I have been in the Seattle, Washington area. We came down here 1, because we wanted to see how we’d like it1 and 2, because my brother-in-law bought us tickets to PAX Prime so we figured it was a good excuse to come out during this time. I have to say, I love it out here2. I think it’s the first place, aside from Philly that I’ve been in the US where it feels like home, which coming from me says a lot.

I took pictures but they’re on my dSLR so until I process them, I won’t be able to share any but I can say that we are seriously considering moving out here now. We looked at the houses and the prices and we have a better idea of how much we need to save for a down payment or the places we’d like for land. The funny thing is that on a map this the Seattle area looks huge when in reality it’s actually quite small. Either way, it’s gorgeous and I’m going to miss it.

Here is a picture I took off my phones of Snoqualmie Falls.

As for PAX, I’ll talk more about that in a separate post. I did enjoy myself but I think it would have been more fun with a different set of people. I tend to curb my excitement based on who I’m with so I don’t think I enjoyed it as much as I’d have liked. Despite that, I still managed to have a good time and the panels I went to were quite interesting. Well, I’m off to get some coffee but I figured an update was warranted.

How did everyone else spend their Labor Day weekend3??

  1. We loved it!
  2. Still in the airport, waiting for our flight.
  3. For those in the US that is.
